Hi, I noticed this problem a long time ago and it is still here after a few updates. I am using Fusion 360 everyday designing LifeStyle Products and Jewelry for our retail stores in SE Asia. I would say over 100 products already designed using Fusion 360 so I know. I am attaching five screen shots to show the problems.
1) if a sphere or a Torus is created in the "Model" workspace, trying to scale one of them, or both of them selected will not work.

2) Just to test it, a Box is created under "Model" and it could be scaled.

3) Only way to scale either a sphere or a torus under the "Model" workspace is to select other profiles with the "Sphere" or the "Torus".

4) I found a way to get around it, I can create both sphere and torus under the "Sculpt" workspace, then convert them to Brep. They could be scaled this way in the "Model" workspace. But there is one catch here. A sphere that was created in "Model" a center point could be constructed. But a sphere converted from "Sculpt" could not. I did not test this further, maybe I have to make the converted sphere into a solid first.

This happened to all my Apple computers. All my computers are quad core I7's purchased just to use Fusion 360. When I am using these computers, there are no other programs opened except "SugarSync". I always have another computer doing other things. OSX 10.8.4 Original Apple graphic cards. 4 gb memory.

PS Fusion 360 is a great program. I enjoy using this program more than others. These are small problems but I can get around it.

When following your workflow, I note that I had to select the origin part for the scale feature to work. What are you selecting for "point"? It seems that a sphere or torus does not provide any geometry that can be used as the base point for the scale.

I had already accepted your suggestion as "Accept as solution" .
Just to show you why scaling spheres are important to us, I had attached a screen shot here. On this ring, I used Create Radial Pattern of the "Model" Workspace to create a series of spheres on the ring band (say only 46mm circumference). Most of the time a single sphere needs to be scaled in the Model workspace to the correct dimension before I can move that to the band. After the spheres are installed, the whole ring can be scaled by activating the full subassembly without any problem:
Other features that I really like is the "Loft" with rail features. Attached please find a screen shot of part of the 18K gold structure that I constructed with two rails and a few circles on different planes (yes it is a little complicated now since I did have to offset a few planes, then project the circles for the connection points of the two rails. But once done it is very good.)
Cool Ring! I am able to scale spheres and torus (bodies) in the Model workspace utilizing construction points as Kevin points out. In the below video, you'll see that I add two construction points. Then I can use these construction points to uniformly scale a torus or sphere as desired. Here's the video:

Hi Nathan, thanks a million! That is a really good video. In fact I did construct the center point of the sphere but I missed out that the center point of the Torus could be used to scale it. That really clarifies the "Point Mode".
You had saved me lots of lost time. Sometimes it is just a matter of procedure. I think this video also helped a lot of users who might be facing the same problem but maybe they did not reach that far yet.
Now I am working on "Match" in the Sculpt workspace. I could match up a Tspline body with a sketched circle but for some reason I still could not "match" up two TSpline bodies as per the video. I will find the trick.. Well we are professional product designers we just have to find out the tricks and this Discussion Forum is a great help.

Next time, could you record in smaller resolution (run in window, scale it smaller) so that the shootage fits i.e. a Macbook Air screen. Also, it will make the downloads lighter and speedier for us.
Now I viewed in in full screen (essentially scaling the recording down after transfer).
