Save as Mesh Settings

When highlighting a body and selecting "Save As Mesh" I am presented with these options.

I am wanting to understand the definition of the setting shown with the red arrow "Maximum Edge Length"

Is this the maximum length between two points on the model?  I am concerned that it thinks this is the maximum length on a particular axis.

that setting is the maximum edge length for the resulting mesh. smaller numbers will tend to result in more regular but denser meshes. check the preview box and play with the number, you'll see what it's doing pretty quickly.
