Ruber grip on knife tutorial

Hi All,

Been following through the excellent tutorials on yotube covering the moutain bike and the utility knife (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sVZD1U1Js2g&index=20&list=PLmA_xUT-8UlJpYbha60oAQMxFlBY371oZ)

One thing I cant find and im really keen to see, the curvy rubber grip that is on the back of the knife, it appears to not be covered in the tutorials. I have been using a very basic cad system for years and so seeing these parts makes me wonder how the hell they are made and im really keen to find out, but I cant see it anywhere. Is it covered in another tutorial?

I have attached an image, it is the part shown in blue I am interested in.

Thanks,

Pete.

Hi,

Thanks for this, I have followed along.

I learnt that a sketchw as created that showed the outline drawing for the grip, then the original solid was split along the line, then the area that will be under the grip was offset smaler, and merged back on. I am trying to do this for myself to see how it goes.

I hae made the knife using the T spline, and I have made a sketch and split off the back section. I now have two bodies that make up the knife, the front part, and the back part that will be the grip.

I am now trying to offset the back part to make the grip, but cant work out how to do this. I have tried doing it with the push/pull but it seems to just change the dimensions of the inside part, and I have tried using the scale tool which does not do the right thing at all.

Any help?

Thanks,

Pete.

Hi All, I have since found this video:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Iz59S6CL7l0

That explains it. Seems i was on the right track with press/pull but I just didnt get the syntax of the order of selecting things right.

Thanks,

Pete.
