Rotation control

Is there a way to change the mouse controls for rotation? The software I used before let me rotate the model

by pressing and holding the left and right mouse buttons down. I find it easier to do that then to use two hands to hold the shift key and middle mouse button. Is there some sort of custome hot keys settings someplace?

Thanks

Not yet but it's coming. The Idea had been set to status "Accepted" and then a 3 phase plan has been sugested and the idea is now back on "Commets Requested".

So head on over, increase the number of votes by one and make your voice heard in the comments.

Yeap, there are discussion about clicking right mouse for rotation, which might be supported later.

Currently we have one option "Pan, Zoom, Orbit shortcuts" in preference which could be used to support rotation only with middle mouse button only. It might be suitable for you as it doen't require hold shift key and only need one hand.

The easiest and what I think is the best solution is to buy a Space Navigator mouse from 3D connexion.   You use it in additon to the normal mouse.  A mouse in each hand!  I personally have a Space Pilot Pro for my workstation and a Navigator for my laptop.   The best money I ever spent on computer hardware.

Whether that works for a user depends on the combination of applications that present the problem. I have a Space Navigator and in the past when I still did CAD work professionally in Solid Works I have enjoyed these 3D mice very much.
However, I also work in Blender, which is a 3D mesh modeler and animation package. In Blender I find the 3D Mouse almost entirely useless. The software is designed to keep the right hand on the mouse and the most used key combinations in each of the left hand. That makes mesh modeling in Blender extremely fast.

Unfortunately viewport control for panning and pivoting between Blender and Fusion 360 work completely opposite and every time I switch application I feel like pulling out my hair 😉
