Rigid group and joint

When I create a Rigid group of bodies and then try to create a joint between the group and another body, Only one part of the rigid group gets jointed, if that is the right term. The rest of the group remain where they were constructed.

Obviously I am doing something wrong but I have know idea what it could be.

klotzmando,

Can you attach an image or use screencast to capture your experience?  I will then create a video that will walk you through the process.

Whether this will help the problem you are showing in the screencast I cannot say, but the browser  structure of your assembly needs an improvement.

ive posted this so many times that I have stopped counting 😉

when designing mechanical componets - ink essence you are not in the Sculpt environment - you should:

1. Create an empty component

2. Activate the empty components by enabling the little radio button to the left of the components name in the browse

3. Then start sketching, extruding etc. everything you do after activating the component will be recorded in that component.

4. When done with the work on a component activate another component to work on it, or activate the top level.

also, don't highlight geometry in the viewport and use the move command, because that is not doing what you may expect for it to do. It moves the body in the component but not the component. In the majority of cases that is not what you want.

If you want to move a component for easier assembly then you can just drag it around in the viewport.

My question is, why?

Or, if you need to move/rotate the component, and have all the others follow, how would you do that?
