Right-Click Issues

There are two issues that occur with right-click I have captured in the Screencast below.

First, if I left-click on a feature in the timeline and then right-click on it, I get the full menu, but I am unable to select some of the menu items--most notably "edit sketch" and "edit feature".  If, however, I right-click on the feature without left-clicking on it first, I am able to select everything in the menu.  This seems like a bug to me and a waste of time.

Second, if I select a component from the browser and right-click to select all referencing joints, the joints in question are highlighted in the window.  If I then right-click in the window on one of the joints (to edit it, for example), the menu that appears is not very helpful.  Most of the time I perform this action to locate and edit a joint in a large assembly.  The work-around is to turn on the visibility of all joints and then right-click on the one I wish to edit.  This method produces a different right-click menu.  Perhaps this is not a bug per se, but in my humble opinion it should be changed.

Hi Josh,

Thanks for bringing this to our attention!

Unfortunately, I was unable to reproduce the behavior with the timeline features on my machine with simplistic designs. Would you mind sharing your design with me? Feel free to PM me a link to the design, or alternatively you could send the *.f3d file to me at mike.tessier@autodesk.com (Not sure if the design contains any proprietary information or not).

Regarding the behavior you are seeing with joints, I'm not too sure what the "as-designed" behavior should be here, so I'm going to have to reach out to some members of the development team to figure out what the intended behavior is. I'll circle back here once I have something to share on this front.

Thanks in advance for the design! Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

Cheers,

Mike Tessier

@mike.tessierhere is the another example of disabled "Edit Feature" menu item:

Before this year recent updates it was happen to me almost every time when I RMB on timeline feature. So, I had to click somewhere or hit ESC and RMB again on the same feature to have this menu item enabled. With the current version it happens in very rare manner (except as in sequence shown in the screencast - it's 100% reproducible).
And it seems depend on the design complexity. On simple designs this bug can not appear even in the sequence shown above. But if after editing a feature F360 requires some noticeable time to recompute further timeline - the problem become annoying.

UPD. Attached design file shown in the screencast.

@mike.tessier--I sent you a PM with the link.

@Anonymous--I am not glad to hear that you are having the same issue, but I am glad that I am not alone in noticing this.  I, too, have noticed that it is related to the complexity of the design.

@mike.tessier,

Any update on this?  Were you able to reproduce the issue on your machine with one of our designs?

Hi Josh,

Thanks for the nudge on this one. I downloaded your design and found that I was able to reproduce the behavior... kind of.

I noticed that I was able to reproduce the "Edit Sketch/Feature" grayed out behavior, but only if I used your steps to reproduce (i.e left click then right click the feature) AND if it was literally the first thing I tried to do when opening the design. If I click anywhere in the workspace, then left click then right click the feature/sketch, the full menu displays and everything within the menu is selectable. I'm not too certain what exactly is happening here, so for that reason I have logged a bug for the development team to review (FUS-30666 for your reference). Should any updates on that front become available, I'll circle back here to share!

Regarding the behavior that you are seeing surrounding editing the referenced joints for a specific component, I don't think that this is a bug. The reason why the menu does not appear to be useful is because when you select "Select all referencing joints" it actually selects all of the joints. It seems to make sense that the option "Edit Joint" doesn't appear, as you are unable to edit multiple joints at the same time. To avoid having to turn on the visibility of all the joints in the design, you could always right click the component and select "Select all referencing joints" and then left click the particular joint that you want to edit. That will make it so only that one joint is selected. You should then be able to right click the icon to get "Edit joint" to appear in the menu.

I hope this helps!

Cheers,

Your not alone. Same issue here. Together with the vanishing timeline marker topic it's not fun 😕

@mike.tessier,

I am glad you were able to reproduce it.  When I am working, it does not only happen as the first command in Fusion.  I see this throughout the day.

@TrippyLighting & @Anonymous,

Thanks for the input.  Not that I want others to have the same problems I do, but it is nice to know whether issues that I see are something that I am doing wrong or not.
