Ridge Joints as drawn between to components

I have two doors on a cabinet that I am modeling.  Each door has sound damping material secured to the inside surface.  The sound damping material is offset from the edges of the doors, so there are no shared edges or center points to anchor with.  What is the easiest way to define a rigid joint between the door and each piece of sound damping material?  Is there away to simpily select the door and the piece of sound damping material and create the rigid joint as "drawn" using the offsets shared between the two components?  I want the doors and sound damping material to move as one unit during a motion study.

I think that there are two choices:

1) use a rigid group.  Select each door and sound dampening component together and choose "Rigid Group":

2) use an "as-built joint", which, I think, does exactly what you want:  it creates the joint with the components in their "as drawn" locations:

Hope this helps you
