I am in a bit of a jam.  I can't delete object because of downstream feature failures, and the revision history is no longer reversible beyond this new session.  I can't go forward or backward in timespace!  What do I do?

I'm not sure I understand the jam based upon the description so far. Why does the object need to be deleted? Can you deleted later in the timeline? Can you just toggle the visibility of the object?

When you say history is no longer reversible, are you talking about features in the timeline or do you mean the version history of the design in your project? See the tip below for reverting to a previously saved version of a design to see what I mean.

Looking forward to your reply.

When you try to pick an older version, what happens? It sounds like you mean to say "undo".

In order to pick from any of the saved versions of your file, do the following:

pick_version.png

When the A360 page opens, use Versions view.

versions_2.png

Each version has an arrow icon used to promote it to the top.

Thanks,

I was building features to test out ideas, and this will be 3d printed so I
don't know if making the parts invisible is a solution. I just tried
deleting in the timeline and it gives the same error.

That tutorial looks very useful and might be the solution except that when
I get to the screen that should allow me to choose a version, it displays a
blank page. http://imgur.com/ZqOrZrg

Are you by chance using Internet Explorer? The A360 pages don't work well with IE, which might explain the blank page.

Could you share a public link of the design and point out the object (component or body?) that you're trying to delete?

There's information about how to share a public link in the below blog post.

http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/design-differently/share-a-public-link-of-your-fusion-360-design/ba-p/...

Feel free to private message me the link if you'd prefer not to post it here.

I happy to take a closer look and see what's going on.

Thanks,

If I knew what a point name was I would, but I'll describe which one I
tried to delete. The group of wheels, chasis, and seat that is opposite
the end where the exploded components are at the end of the chain.

I apologize... "point" is suppose to be "point out."  (I edited the response)

Is there a specific body or bodies (e.g. "Body78") that should be deleted? Have you tried deleting them from the Model Browser?

Thanks,

I made a screencast recording of another way to delete some bodies in this design. Check it out below.

http://autode.sk/1AQMDrv

Does this video help? If not could your create a Screencast recording to help me understand the issue? You can download and install Screencast from the below website for free!

https://screencast.autodesk.com/

I note that you have several error and warnings in the timeline. It may help to review the modeling best practices for Fusion 360 below.

I hope this helps!

I had problems launching screencast.  Do these images provide enough information for you?

It looks like you're trying to delete the bodies that are highlighted in the second image, is that correct?

Below is a screencast of me using the Selection filters to select and delete those bodies from the workspace.

 http://autode.sk/1K0YhSq

Does this help or am I missing the intent of what you're trying to do?

What kind of problems did you have launching screencast? If you are on Mac OS, you may need to modify the GateKeeper setting in the Security panel of the preferences.

I hope this helps!

Kind Regards,

Thank you Nathan.  The timeline started working again and I was able to go back to a previous version, but I found more undeletable geometry and was able to delete it using this selection tool by checking 'select through'.

Well, I think my problem was solved until the update yesterday.  How do I delete now?

There should be no change to deleting after the update. What is the problem you are having?

Hi Phil

The exact same problem, where if I select a body that not all of them can be deleted, and return an error when I try to delete them.

I think I know what is confusing here.

There are two ways to erase objects in Fusion. One command removes all history of the thing you delete. It's called "Delete".

I think you are using Delete, and getting errors because you have removed the history created by the item and there are downstream dependencies. So of course they fail when you remove the data that helped create them.

The second command to take objects out of your design is called Remove, will remove items from your design without disturbing the parametric history. The removal becomes a timeline item like any other feature and is placed at the end of the timeline. If you roll timeline before the Remove the body will be there, roll timeline after the Remove, the body is gone.

Try using Remove:
