revert to a flate shape from a molded one

Hello Autodesk Community,

The title probably doesn't explain it well..a customer needs to recreate a model of a twisted slat of wood and he only has the final shape. To recreate this I would need to obtain the 2D design. I'm wondering how I can achieve this in Fusion.

Attached is an example, in this case I went from 2D to twisted shape. How can I do the opposite process?

Thank you for your kind support,

Luca

Sketch1 has no dimensions?

Sketch2 has no dimensions?

Sketch3 has no dimensions?

I just quickly sketched an example of what I mean as I'm interested in the procedure, unless you require specific numbers for the calculation.

Thank you,

Luca

Thank you for the file, I'm just not good enough with Fusion to understand how you got to the final result. I would need more explanation if possible.

Create dimensioned geometry and I will link video on the process.

Here is the file with dimensioned geometry.

Thanks again,

Where are these 2 points in located in space?

Attached is a simplified version of your part.

Use >>MeshMixer<< to unwrap the surface.  See the link for an example.

Let me know if you still have trouble.

Fully constrained geometry attached.

here's an example of doing it with sheet metal.  not always possible to do with odd surfaces though, knowing how to do it with mesh mixer is a good tool to have.-

I open again the request as the previous solution using Unfold command doesn't solve the actual issue.

Here attached is the final shape I need to straighten up and I cannot come up with a proper solution.

Thank you,

Luca

Where is the Timeline History?

Did  you watch the video that I posted previously?

What is more important to you  - the outside surface or the inside surface?

I cannot see the video in the previous messages and inside part is more important.

There's no history as the component is exported.

Thank you

What happens when you click on the MeshMixer link in Message 7?

Very interesting and well explained video! At 7:38 you mention that the part has to be only the surface, no thickness. I cannot find the proper way to extract only the face from my model (the last one I attached).

Thank you,

Luca

What is the source of the file?

Why was it imported rather than created natively in Fusion 360?

(You can Offset the single surface distance zero and use the single offset surface. You will have to account for the small fillets.)
