Reusable component in design

Hello

I need to design a number of components and they all share same part.

I started by designing this one common part as a separate component, which has multiple bodies...

Next I tried to create new component, create some body in this new component and merge that body with common one. Which kind of works but since common component has multiple bodies - they either get merged into new body (which I dont want to) or left alone...

I wonder what right approach would be?

Hope I make sense, and probably pics would explain better. Grey component is the common one - flange (it has also metallic looking bodies - magnets). Orange ones represent different variations all based on common flange.... and they also need to inherit those magnet bodies

Hi,

1. Create a copy of Flange 2.5 and name it.
2. Start a new design and save it. 3.
3. insert here from the datapanel "Flange_xx".
4. create a new part "Shank" with reference to Flange_xx and connect it via a rigid connection.
5. Create a copy of "Shank".
etc. etc.

So instead of having all components in single file/design, have multiple files/designs one per component, right?

For #3 / 4 - do you mean 'insert derive' ?

One per assembly

No, Datapanel: rightclick >  insert into current design or drag into current design
