Hi Scott,

Great Question! It looks like the Section Analysis tool is not supported in the Render environment at this time. I also checked the cloud rendering and creating a saved view with the section analysis visible and saved.

You may be able to work around this limitation by creating an extrude cut to that passes through everything (all bodies/components). You can override face appearances as necessary and then use the Render environment.

I hope this helps. Let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks,

Hi- is there any movement on getting this functionality?  I'd love to be able to render various sectional views.  Thanks!

Hi @Anonymous

We have this feature in our backlog.  I don't have a release date yet, but I'm hoping the team will be able to get to this before the end of the year.

There are some large projects ahead of it that need to get completed.

Thanks

Colin

 Hi @Jasoncake

No this hasn't been implemented yet.  I will update this forum thread when I have a date that it will be added to Fusion.

Thanks

Colin

When this does get implemented (hopefully soon!) it would be ideal if it worked the way it does in Thea Render: Lighting, shadows, reflections, etc. behave as if the hidden portions of the model were still visible. So, the result is not the same as if you removed or hid portions of the model. See here for more: https://thearender.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=17531

Yes please! And if it worked w/r/t scene lighting as Rand describes in the Thea Renderer post, that would be fantastic!

For my purposes I would like the behaviour to be the opposite. I.e. the render should look like the part has been physically cut in half and I am looking at the remaining material in the part.

Hence a switch to toggle between the two behaviours would be optimal.

FIVE years have passed since this post.
I'm another user that would like to use this feature.

May we trust it will be implemented?

Thanks in advance

My marketing department has requested a bunch of renders of the tanks I have been drawing including animations and cutaways to show internal functionality. @colin.smith is this still on the roadmap or do I pass the project on to another team mate using different software?

Unfortunately, as wonderful as Fusion is, being on the roadmap has come to mean that there may pass >5 years before things are implemented.

I don’t have any insights into the Fusion team, but from what I’ve seen, you should probably find a workaround.

I ended up getting a project assigned to me that required this. The object had about 30 components. I split all of the components with a plane and hid half of them. I then rendered the object as normal and my marketing team was happy with the results.

I found this to be a solution which worked well.

1. Created cube that intersected with my design, such that the intersection was where I wanted to view the section.

2. Used 'Modify->Split Body'

3. Selected tool as the cube I just created

4. Selected as targets all those bodies I wanted cut at the intersection.
5. did a bit of clean up.

A slightly more streamlined feature would be nice, but I don't see any real need.
