Removing version (v1 etc) from component name in parts table

Hello All,

I am creating an assembly drawing and it has a Fusion 360 generated parts table in.

I don't want to show the version, i.e."v1", in the parts name as it is misleading to my suppliers. I have captured the design history in a revision number that is part of the part number, so I don't use the version number for anything when it comes to procurement.

Is there anyway to remove the "v1" from the parts table in a drawing?

Please don't ask for a .f3d file, you don't need it.

Cheers,

Tony

You are probably going to slap your head and curse me under your breath but you did post this looking for suggestions so I will tell you mine.  One, the version number only appears and updates for "Linked" components, so do not use linked components.  Two, your published parts list displays "Part Name", which includes the version number, but you are not using "Part Number" which does not.  I understand you have to add the part number to each component but you did ask for solutions and these are mine.

I don't think there is any way to remove the v#  from the "part name".  I guess your already using "part number" for an actual part number?  maybe you could use the "description" instead?

Hi John,

I use the link components to any COTS parts so that if we change supplier I can just edit the part and it updates at all its locations. Is there a way to unlink, save the drawing and then relink? I am assuming not.

I have put the part number in the name so that I can see it in the browser (tree), my understanding is that you cannot make the browser (tree) display the part name and number? if you know of a way to do this, that would be great as it would make my drawing table much easier to read.

Cheers,

I actually have the part number in the part name as I want the part number displayed in the tree, I dont think you can have the part number displayed in the tree currently?

I could type out the part name I wanted in the part number I suppose in order to manually remove the "v#" from each name.

Hi,

Take a look at the Custom Properties announcements for the Parts List in the Roadmap.

In the pic I posted the field automatically populated the number with the name sans v#.  I didn't type anything in.

I Am unable to edit the title names in the automatic table and using all headings in the table like part name, part number, description, item number and Qty. I don't want to show the versions in part name but I need to be linked drawing because there are many items in my library linked with so many files. If I need to change the size or component description don't want to change every file, want to change it in my library then I can easy to click the link in f3d and drawings.

Put "Title 1" instead of "Part Name"
