Remove xref-ed design from current design

Rule #1 of parametric design: don't delete a body/component as it will destroy all features it contributed to. Remove it instead.

This is all nice and well until you want to do the same with a xref-ed design. Say you insert a part in another design in order to create some soft jaws. Once done, I need just the soft-jaws in that design but you cannot remove the xreffed part and if you delete it it all breaks down.

Why?

You can remove a linked design. You can only do it from the timeline using the right click menu, what's not obvious is the remove will be placed at the current timeline marker position.

Here I've used remove then moved the timeline maker back before the remove so I can have it show in the menu.

Interesting place to hide the option. But it works*. Thanks!

*There is a limitation still, which makes the "remove" just a shortcut to "break link and then remove". Not exactly what I had in mind as I still wanted to receive updates and have them applied to the point in timeline the remove happened. It is just from that point onwards that I don't want the component "visible" anymore.

You can still update the linked part. Just need to roll the timeline marker back before the Remove, update then move timeline marker back to the end.
