Reliable failure on creating a drawing in OS X

Hello:

. . . I am seeing a reliable sticking/crash when I try to create a drawing from a part. (OS X 10.10.1 on a 27in iMac, Fusion version 2.0.1403)

Watch the screen cast: https://screencast.autodesk.com/Embed/Timeline/b507adfc-5032-46ff-a774-454923721d7d

A few things happen after trying to place the view: that awful pixel preview persists, I lose the mouse pointer over the drawing "sheet". . .

After some time I can try another command from the ribbon (doesn't matter which), and then we see the dreaded beach-ball-of-despair. I can wait for quite some time, but eventually have to force-quit the app.

This happens every time I try this, no matter the file, no matter the view.

Cheers, C

Thank you for taking the time to put together a video.  Sorry you are experiencing this hang.  Can you send the model used in the video to kris.berg@autodesk.com and we will try to reproduce it?  Prior to the latest update were you able to create drawing views?

Thanks,

Kris Berg

Hi Kris:
. . . email sent.
I have been successful in the last day or so in getting one drawing to work -- would you like that file for comparison?

Thanks Colin,

I received your email.  We have tried it on various computers but are unable to reproduce your issue.  I have a few more things to try and if we still can't reproduce it here, I will private message you to request more information.  We really want to reproduce it so that we can fix it!

Thanks,
Kris Berg

Hi Kris:

. . . there was an update for me today (2.0.1407) that started working for our example. See the screenshot below.

(it's still a little bit jerky on drawing creation, but it does work. Nice.)

  I'll do a bit of follow-on testing here . . .

Cheers, C

Glad to hear that Colin.  The hotfix did not have any fixes in this area, but it could have been an install issue.  I was trying to reproduce your issue, but was unable to find the exact hardware configuration you have in our office.  I did have a couple of theories I wanted to investigate.  If you have time it would be great if you could answer these questions.  Is it possible you are running the application in a smaller window than when it was not working? Also was screencast active in the dock when it did not work?

Thanks for reporting it is now working.  Let us know if you encounter more issues.

Hi Kris:

. . . I tried the following permutations, all of which were successful:

Fusion windowed + screencast recording = pass

Fusion fullscreen + screencast recording = pass

Fusion windowed + screencast not recording = pass

Fusion fullscreen + screencast not recording = pass

The only thing running that I can think of perhaps interacting unexpectedly with Fusion would be LIttle Snitch, which is blocking google analytics + marketo. See the screenshot of the Little Snitch active filter. Once said though, this has been consistent throughout the whole discussion -- before and after the drawings starting to work . . .

Cheers, C
