Relative movement of two rigid groups

Hello community,

 

I created a table made of single components, the carcase is now joint in a single group. This table also has two drawers and I want the parts of the drawer joint to each other.

 

When I join the drawer alone, all goes into the same group of the main structure.

 

I'm now struggling in creating a sliding movement of the drawer coming in and out of the main structure.

 

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi @luca.dalmo 

 

Please find attached my edited file.

 

I created a sliding joint between the front for the draw and the side of the main table. Then I created a contact set between the back of the draw and the back of the table.

 

This ensures the draw will slide, but not slide through the table.

 Thank you Matt for the reply and the attached file. I'm happy with the solution, another piece of valuable information in my learning path.

 

I'm still wondering why the drawers and the carcase go under the same rigid group (named RigidGroup3) and if in theory it would be possible to create a sliding motion between two separate rigid groups.

Hi,

Joints are created between components, where a component can be part of a rigid group.

First I deleted the rigid joints in Drawer 2.
