redefine sketch plane onto construction plane

I created a sketch on a plane, then constructed another plane above it (same angle).  When I right click the sketch and try to redefine sketch plane, the construction plane disappears.  I had 3 points on that plane and deleted them thinking F360 wants nothing on the plane, but that didn't work.  Why does my construction plane disappear when I try to redefine sketch plane?

Hi,

Have  a look at your timeline.

You can only move the sketch to a plane that already existed when sketch was created.

@g-andresen is right about the reason for this, of course, but there's also an implicit "how do I fix this?" that's probably worth addressing as well.

You can drag timeline operations back and forth in time as much as you like, as long as you don't violate causality. In the starting situation you described, your offset plane and the original sketch both depend on the original plane, but not on each other. So just drag the operation that creates your new plane in front of the sketch. Then you can use it to redefine the sketch plane.

Similar issue, thank you. I wanted to correct the angle of a sketch plane so created a new construction plane based of the surface points I wanted. The construction plane would disappear when I would try to redefine the sketch plane. I was able to simply drag the construction plane in front of the sketch plane creation in the history and was able to then select it.
