Putting multiple components under one component in browser tree is not working in 2026 version

I primarily use fusion 360 for cabinet making and woodworking. I am wanting to put multiple components under one component in the browser tree like I have always done, but it is not working now that I am on the 2026 version. I have the marker at the far end of my design history. Has the feature where you can drag drop multiple components into one component been done away with in this new version or am I just missing something?

Can you File>Export your *.f3d file to your local drive and then Attach it here to a Reply?

Or a dummy file that exhibits the same behavior.

are you in Hybrid, Part, or Assembly mode?  If you are in Hybrid, everything should work the same.  I cannot speak for Assembly mode (I don't use it), and obviously, this is not available in Part mode (no components)

I'm in hybrid mode, so that's why I'm so frustrated that it's not working like it used to.

@gavin_jones  They really messed up the last update and made this more difficult than it needs to be!

I haven't updated Fusion yet because of this but from what I've read you need to select a part as a new component then set it to Internal rather then a Hybrid component. See this post for a better explanation.

The solution that you suggested didn't work for me, but that did lead me to discover a/the solution. I was always making the new component under which I wanted to add additional components as an assembly and that automatically made it external. I just needed to make the new component a part and that left a check box where I could select whether it was external or not. With it being an internal part, now I'm able to add other parts to it in the browser tree. 

I am not seeing the benefit of the new design system yet, but I also know that woodworking and cabinet design is not really what Fusion is intended for. Maybe I'll get some more understanding as to its usefulness as I continue.

How did you make this bloody thing work? I cant move the parts from one component to another (or group them any other way). Fusion is like - everything I want to do, requires support now...

You can't reproduce the issue in a dummy file?

Probably a bug then.
