Proxy Server Problem

A client of ours has installed Fusion360 for one of the teachers at their school. Their system is locked down tighter than a data center. Anyway, they added exceptions in their proxy server, as per this link:

https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/fusion-360/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/Net...

but that did not solve the issue.

They were then asked to try this:

https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/fusion-360/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/Ins...

which worked for the teacher while at school, but when he went home, his home network could obviously not see the proxy that was being forced by the environment variable.

Is there a more practical solution that doesn't require an environment variable to force the proxy? I have suggested he try logging into Fusion 360 from somewhere outside the school network, and entering the proxy details into the Fusion network settings. I fear this may cause the same issue.

Hi Gavin,

Its a pain when your machine is moving between different ISPs/proxy servers. We don't have any out of box automation around it.

But, we could write up a command line that figures this out and sets/unsets that environment variable and then start Fusion.

Are you on Windows or Mac? I will try to whip you such an automation for you...

Hi Shrirang,

That sounds very helpful as an intermediate step until this issue is addressed to not need workarounds.

The users have a mixture of Mac and Windows. Would it be possible to write these scripts for both?

How will your script identify the network that the machine is on, or whether or not there is an authenticated proxy?

Thanks
