Projecting sketch from 2 point rectangle

When i try to project a sketch of a rectabgle created from the center point method. I have to delete the cross construction lines that were automaticaly generated in order to pick the complete sketch profile. Does anyone have a clue on how to do this without having to make the deletion?

I'm not sure of the exact workflow here.  Do you mean that you have to delete the construction lines in the source before it is projected, or do you mean that the Project creates projections of the construction line in the destination, then you have to go back in and delete them from the destination?

Anyway, here is a screencast of doing it - I just do it one line at a time.  Is that what  you are trying to achieve, or is it something different?

Thanks,

Well I can see that works but I think it is a workaround not the ultimate
solution. If you have a closed sketch (the rectangle) the construction
lines should not be breaking the sketch. In other words if you draw the
rectangle as you did and then delete the construction lines it picks the
whole chain as it should. Maybe something for the developers to look at.
Picking every line should not be the solution for the problem.

Excellent point.  You are correct.  How this should work is:  if the source of the projection is a construction line, the result should also be construction.  I will enter this as an enhancement request for Project.

A related question:  I find myself a lot of times converting all the projected geometry to construction.  Would it make sense to others to have a setting (either a preference, or on the Project dialog) to allow you to say:  "I want all projected geometry to be construction"?

Thanks,

Jeff

Jeff,

Yes, an option in the Project Menu to "Project All As Construction" would be very helpful. IMHO, circumstances change too often when creating geometry to have it as a Preferences toggle. Thanks.

As long as the projected geometry (as construction) would stay constrained
to the underlying projected geometry. This is very useful if you need to
create offset geometry from the projected sketch. As in clearance for a
pin.

Just for consideration, The same problem exists when trying to do offsets from center point created geometry. I hope this is something that is addressed in future updates.

Can you explain a bit further what the problem is with offsetting from center point created geometry?  Do you mean that sketch offset should also obey a flag to create construction geometry, or is this a different concern?

Thanks,

Jeff
