Projecting geometry from another component when sketching

Hello,

I need to design an enclosure. To find the best position for components, holes and everything, I need to shift things around during modeling.

My plan is to project some geometry from a component onto another to make, i.E. holes.

But then I can't move or give dimensions to them. I guess they are still connected somehow?

Hi @lichtpark,

The projected sketches are linked to the component which you used to project the sketches from. If you want to change their dimension, you have two options; change the dimension of the original sketch or Break the link of the projected sketch (Right click on the sketch and choose "Break"). You will see after the "Break", the the lines will change to Green.

Hi @Beyondforce,

for some reason, it doesn't work as you described. No lines turn to green after breaking the link.

Actually, I need the openings not exactly on this position, but at the beginning only for testing around.

Even if I press pull the projected geometry through the enclosure, the openings doesn't follow if I move the component around.

Do I misunderstanding something here?

I stupidly always broke the link (link symbol) from the socket component. And not the way you showed.
