Project sketch to surface is not working for me.

I need to project a sketch to the opposite side of a figure.

See the attached image first!

This blue area is what I need to project to the other side.  Then I need a new body that is about .5mm thick to this inner surface.  Then, I will need to extrude up to the top for the funnel.  Then I need to join a thin .2mm support rib back from this extruded column to the conical curved inside of the funnel.

If I can get this sketch to show up on the other side, I believe I can do a thicken on the sketch, then extrude the new body up.  I'm not sure how to create the rib such that it goes to the curved surface.

However, my big problem right now is that I CANNOT get the sketch to project to the other side.  Watch my screencast and you will see it fail.

WHY please?  Thanks in advance for your help.

The information provided has me not understanding your intent and your wordings.

To the other side of what?

However, the last frame if the scast shows a purple curved line that was not present in the beginning.

So I has worked, even if not what you wanted.

Be aware that Project to surface, usually creates a 3d sketch as normal result, limiting functions to only those that can use 3d articles.

Are you saying that you want to build structure inside the bowl?

Is the structure an extrusion of the three tabs under the section analysis?

What is happening right now in "injection molding" terms would create what is called an "undercut" which complicates manufacturing.  I'm trying to eliminate that under cut.    Basically I'm trying to achieve this:

Undercut illustration

So I'm trying to create 3 vertical pieces(legs) inside the bowel to make those tabs.  I almost got it to work.  I was able to project it on the "underside".  Then I extruded that up inside of the bowel.  Then I did a "pull" on the face.  However, it wouldn't let me pull all 3 sides..it made a mess.  So I pulled on 3 of the 4 sides.  It wasn't equal, the 4th inside was too big and seemed to be accumulating the changes of the other 3.  Then I did a second extrusion to cut the center back out.  That was all well and good and then nothing work and I got stuck again.

First, I tried to create a pattern of that 3 times.  However, I could not take the projection and put it on a pattern. So I could not "cut" out the piece between the top and bottom part of the bowl necessary for the leg to go all the way through to create the bottom tabs.  I also could not choose the surface "inside" of the 2 protrusions inside so I could use that to cut it out.  So it was a fail.  Also, I could not create a rib either that went from the 3 new protrusions to the inside of the bowl.  All the examples I have seen of a rib extend to a drawing not to an actual 3 dimensional surface.  Maybe there is no way to do that either....

I deleted the whole thing since it wasn't right.

Going to admit, didn't really follow what your trying to do.

However, I saw 2 possible problems in your screen cast.

1-at some point you got the "not supported projecting geometry into same sketch" error, which means you where trying to project a sketch curve into it's own sketch. Project always projects from one sketch to a second sketch.

2-Your project type was set to "closets point" which frequently results in unpredictable projections.  I would suggest using "along Vector" here.

You also used the phrase

"If I can get this sketch to show up on the other side, I believe I can do a thicken on the sketch, then extrude the new body up"

Not sure what you mean by "do a thicken on the sketch."

You can only extrude planer profiles.  If you already have a profile, there's no need to "project to the other side." the extrude for the profile can start from anywhere, doesn't have to start at the profile itself.

Maybe hand sketch on a screen shot what you want to achieve, and attach your design. It will be much easier to understand what you want.
