Project model face to sketch

Hi I want to know if it's possible to project an object face to another sketch without them object face and sketch being in alignment.

The outcome I want to achieve is:

1. model an object (for example this stool, in the fusion 360 tutorial https://youtu.be/DHrP1MunhFw)

2. without disturbing the stool model, select the faces on the objects and project them to a new sketch. This sketch would represent sheet material, plywood. Another option might be to copy surface and paste to new sketch?

3. extrude the plywood sheet sketch ready for CAM cut paths.

Thanks

Hi, one way to do this is to define a new sketch on each face, which automatically projects the edges of the face into the sketch, or if a curved face, create a proper construction plane, define a sketch on that, then go Sketch > Project and choose the face.  You can then use the projected sketch curves in CAM, say 2D CAM operations.  Also, you can right click on the sketches in the Browser tree and choose Redefine, then choose a new common plane for all of them, so that the geometries can be arranged in how you want them all machined out of a larger board.

Good luck!
