Project Explorer always starts in a random folder

Hi @Anonymous,

when i open my fusion 360 the project explorer on the left side(in my layout) will always open into a a random folder.

I tried to close fusion with my current work folder open but still i end up with a random folder after starting fusion.

Sometimes its a folder in which I have not edited or viewed any files in years.

I could understand it if it where the root, but a random folder makes no sense to me.

Is it somethin I am doing wrong?
And no, I'am not using A360 and view different folders in web view or something. I'am not even starting my license on another desktop machine or something.

Its just close fusion -> open fusion -> random folder.

I have this problem for years not and it is really cumbersome.

Hi,

Are you sure it is truly random?

My Fusion also opens up in different folders, but it depends on what I was doing when I shut it down.

I have two main work folders with sub folders within each. If I was working in my "Work" folder, it usually

opens at the top level of this folder tree. If I was working on my "Tutorials" folder it usually opens to the

top of that folder tree. On occasion I have shut down to from my Top folder and next time it opens there.

If you have several primary folders hanging off your top folder, it may appear to be opening randomly but

actually is just opening the top of the last folder branch.

I wouldn't worry about it too much, it may just automagically fix itself with an update one day. I usually have

to navigate to where I need to be when I fire it up anyway and clicking on the folder tree makes it quick anyway.

Cheers

Andrew

I also have this issue. F360 also randomly chooses a folder to save drawings into rather than just defaulting to the same folder as the model. Same thing happens with 'save as', which means it's easy to accidentally save V2, V3 etc of the model / drawing in random locations unless you remember to navigate to the right folder when saving. Why doesn't F360 just leave the folder path alone unless we tell it otherwise?
