Producing drawings with nested components

I have small steel and wood structures held together with nuts and bolts.  I would like to produce drawings which show, step by step, how the structures are put together and, whilst producing Drawings allows me to do a lot of this, I cannot get a parts list to appear as I would like.

For example, step one is to put the base frame together using nuts and bolts.  The 8 parts for the base frame are in a component called, "Base frame" and the nuts and bolts in a component called "Sachet 1". I need to create a drawing with all base frame parts and their related nuts and bolts and to label it accordingly but of course only get a parts list with two components.  De-selecting the Sachet prompts the 8 base parts to appear in the table and the nuts and bolts to be removed from the drawing and vice versa.

Is it possible to show nested parts for two or more components in the same table?

To show the step by step drawings have you tried using the animation environment?  Heres a screen cast for using exploded views:

To complete the separate parts list you would need to make this parts sub assemblies, either by making them their own components or overriding the table. Please see the screencast below for using parts lists:

Thanks for the reply.

Yes, I have tried using animation and although that gets me a certain amount of flexibility with regard to layout of the parts, that is not really my problem.  My problem is getting a list of parts to display in a table.

"To complete the separate parts list you would need to make this parts sub assemblies, either by making them their own components or overriding the table. "

In my example, I have two components, each of which contains a number of linked child components, (parts).  Are you suggesting that I scoop up all of these parts and put them in one component?  That's not going to be possible for a multitude of reasons.  I'm not sure what you mean by overriding the table.
