Problems exporting/converting t-spline object

Dear community,

I created the t-spline object attached by thickening a t-spline model. I'd like to work on it, but unfortunately it can neither be converted nor exported because of overlapping surfaces (?). I am unable to fix this problem in Fusion360, so I tried to export the model to work on it with another program, but this doesn't work either.

Does anybody have an idea how to convert/export it? Or fix the issues to make it convertable?

Thanks a lot for your help.

If you do a section view of the sculpt body, you can see there are lots of overlapping surface.

You'd have to eliminate these. However, given the number elements on the body, I think it would be better to simplify it outside of  Fusion 360. It looks like there are three different sizes. Is that intentional?

There's an export control frame as OBJ command that worked pretty well for me.

I note you can use Autodesk Remake to open the resulting quad OBJ file. There are some tools in Remake to help you reduce and repair the mesh.

I hope this helps.

Thanks,

Thank you! This has already helped me a lot!

You are right, there are several sizes. It was not intentional that they all conected to one model. When I thicken the original t-spline body, there was no "new component/body" created, but somehow the original model and the thickened ones are all "one part". Do you know how to prevent this from happening?

Do you have any idea how to get rid of the inner parts?

Do you have a copy of the design before you did any thickening to it and created the internal layers? Cleaning up now could get a bit tricky. You can open previously saved versions, check out the below learning link.

I would try to convert from Sculpt body to BREP surface body first before any thickening. In other words, I would try to avoid thickening the sculpt environment for this particular sculpt body.  The reason I would use this approach is that it may be easier to resolve the overlapping faces in the sculpt body if there weren't so many "layers."

I am happy to have a look if you have a simplified version available... I hope that helps!

Thanks,
