I've imported a fairly simple SVG file I'd like to use for an inlay. As you can see, three of the shapes overlap - the moon, the small sail, and the large sail. I'd like to create a pocket, and insert, individually for each shape. That is, cut a pocket for the moon, mill an insert, glue the insert into the pocket. Next, cut a pocket for the small sail in both the base and the moon insert, mill the small sail insert, and insert that into the pocket. Repeat for the large sail.
To do that I have to be able to isolate each of the overlapping shapes. Create a pocket in a blank for the recess, and create a separate extruded Component for the insert.
I can't even get to first base. The SVG drawing appears to have gaps, although I can't find them even at extreme magnification. The whole figure is broken into multiple line segments. I can't select the moon, for example, and extrude it into a new Component, without simultaneously selecting the edges of the sail.
Either I'm missing something obvious, or maybe what I want to do isn't possible in Fusion?
Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!
