Hi!

I'm new in the Autodesk Forum.

I'm was working with t-splines, trying to sculpt something like the yellow submarine (the beatles). The problem: when I "finish form" in the sculp menu, i had the following errors:

I tried a lot of fixes but nothing seems solve the issue.

I also attached the f3d file of the gun.

Can anyone help me out with this?

Your control vertices are tangled up.  You have to go to box mode (alt 1) to see the control frame.   When doing a model of any complexity in tspline, i spend about 80% of my time in box mode, switching back and forth frequently.  If your control frame looks good, your smooth tspline body will look good.  The opposite is not true.

this is a screen shot of a few places where the control frame is crossing over itself

Here's a screencast example.  Here I take a simple tspline body and tangle up the control frame (box mode) so that it won't convert properly, and then untangle it so it will.  This is what you have to do with yours.  Yours is pretty messed up though, so it may be easier to just delete and redo.  You need to get in a habit of switching back and forth frequently between box and smooth mode to avoid this happening.

Is there an easy way to find where the conflicts are? I'm working on an imported terrain surface so I have too many points to go through manually.Error Screenshot.png

Have you tried Utilities->Repair body ?

How did you create this terrain mesh ?

I've been importing DEM images using this script. I've done several with no problem, but for some reason the attached image is causing errors.

My process:

1. Import surface using script

2. Convert surface from Quad Mesh to T-Spline

3. Finish Form (This is where the error has been happening)

4. Draw rectangle below surface

5. Extrude rectangle up to surface

6. Export as STL
