Problem with components and history

Hi,

I am participating in a competition for making a moon base design in fusion 360. I have made solid progress however I have stumbled upon an annoying workflow problem. You see I need to create a bunch of boxes, in which plants are grown, however they all become different objects which clutters up my browser. To fix this I made them into components and grouped them together into a construction folder of sorts. But suddenly when I created another assortment of boxes I could not group them. Only fix I found for this was to delete the history, which worked, but that came along with another problem. All the fillets, chamfers, revolves and circular patterns that I had created suddenly appeard in my browser. This makes my browser list extremely long and I can't even move them neither can I group them. What am I supposed to do to fix this? Also I need a fix quickly because the project need to be completed by 18th of April and I am only about 40% done. 😞

It looks like you are working in direct modeling mode, which is something most of us here on this forum do not recommend.

One of the reasons I personally don't recommend for complex designs it is exactly what you describe. All the modeling operations clutter up the browser.

So if i have the history timeline on, then i am not using direct editing? Or is there some way of changing it?

Correct!

However if you have modeling icons shown in the browser, as shown in the image below, that means that you do not have the design history (timeline) enabled:

Okay, I have the model open with the history timeline however there is still another issue. When I try to combine the components of the boxes on the outer shelf they for some reason don't combine. As seen in the video. When I made the inner shelf boxes into components i was easily able to combine them. I don't really know at what point I wasn't able to do that anymore.

Hi,

1. combine is done with bodies not with components
2. share your design and tell which bodies to combine

File > export > save as f3d on local drive  > attach it to the next post

I meant group the components. Like in the video, I turn the inner shelves boxes on and off. That sort of group.  The components that I want to group are component36 to component83. PS sorry if the model is a horrendous mess.
