Problem with chamfer/fillet feature

Hi guys,

I think I may have found a glitch, or maybe it is user error. Please watch the short clip.

I want to apply a chamfer to the top edge (as it shows is selected) however when I complete the feature, it decides to also modify the lower section with the chamfer... which is not what I want to occur.

Any suggestions as to why this could be happening? I am able to get around it by adjusting the sketch of the extrusion but thought this is an easier way to go about it.

Thanks

Luke

It most certainly looks like a glitch, thank you for sharing. Would you be able/willing to share your file? File > Export > Save to local folder. Return to thread and attach the .f3d file in your reply.

I'd like to mention, that you are currently posting in the CAM forum. This is more a modeling question. I've flagged this post for the moderator to move it to the correct forum, so no need for you to do anything in that regard

Hi Seth yes sorry about posting in wrong section, I was in a rush and couldn't change the thread to another section.

I actually discovered it when I was in CAM and then went back to model a chamfer... hence my error.

Sure attached is the .f3d file.

Cheers

Luke

Interesting, for sure. I thought that by splitting the face I could force it to act as expected. It worked, but only up to a 1mm chamfer. Going past that and it reverted to it's old behavior:

It occurs that I didn't give you a workaround. The easiest thing to do would be to toss a sketch onto the top surface and draw the triangle that represents the chamfer. A quick extrude down to the surface will yield what you need

Ya that's what I did as a workaround just thought I would post it up incase it was operator error or stumbled across a glitch 🙂

Thanks Seth
