Problem opening certain dwg/dxf files in Fusion 360

I have a number of drawings, with .dwg and .dxf versions of each. I don't know what software the files where made in originally.

When I upload the files in Fusion 360 and try to open I don't see everything in the file. For mostof the files I see some of the page layout, but not the actual part or the dimensions of the part.

AutoCAD LT 2019 and DraftSight both open the files correctly. I have tried opening the files in AutoCAD/DraftSight and saving as a new file, but I still get the same problem when opening in Fusion. I have also tried using AutoCAD/DraftSight to copy the parts I'm interested in into a new file, saving it and open it in Fusion. When I do that get an empty file (no sketches).

Is there any way to open these files in Fusion?

I'm assuming it's the extrusion profile you're really interested in bringing into Fusion? If so, just open up the drawing in Draftsight (or ACAD), select the profile and type 'explode' and hit 'Enter'. This will break the profile down into lines & arcs etc. I'd also recommend moving the centre of the profile to 0,0 before saving it and importing it into Fusion.

If this answers your question please mark the thread as solved as it can help others find solutions in the future.

I've created a Windows application (and now Mac as well) for creating custom thread files for Fusion. You can find out about it here. Hope you find it useful.
If you need to know how to offset threads for 3D printing then I've created a guide here which you might find useful.
If you would like to send me a tip for any help I've provided or for any of my software applications you've found useful, you can do this via my Ko-Fi page here.
