Problem making drafted text/figure

Hi,

I have a problem that i can't find a sulotion for.

I want to model the following contour and text of the canvas in the pictur i sent, which is not a problem i just draw splines and extrude the dolphin and text to the desired hight.

The problem tough is that i want it extruded at an angle, the bottom should be thicker and the top thinner (because the strenght will increase id the design is like this), but when i try to do this it says that it interects itself, which i understand but it does not really matter in this case.

It should look somewhat like in example 2 picture, but ofcourse follow all of the countor and text

How would this type of thing be modeled in the best way?

Thank you

Tom Magnusson

Hi @Tommagnusson1986,

Initially I would say, you can use the Patch => Extrude under the Patch environment to extrude the lines. Then you can use the Draft or the Press Pull command to create the angle at the top/Bottom.

If you want, you could attach the file and I'll take a look at it.

Cheers / Ben

Hi Ben,

Thank you for your input, i tried making some extruded patches on some of the text, still can't get it right tough.

Please go ahead and take a look if you have the time, i have attached the file.

Some of the text is extruded as patches, and should somehow be drafted so the bottom get's thicker (like a pyramid shape)

Thank you

Is that the real size of the text? As far as I can see, my biggest problem is the size! It is very difficult to work with less than 1mm material.

Well yes, but only at the top. From the top it should be drafted at an
angle making it thicker at the bottom.

Let's say as if you where to offset all the contours at the bottom and make
a loft between them.

It will be much easier to have the reel size at the bottom, make an offset plan, project the sketch, offset the sketch to the current size and then make the loft.

It should work much better this way.

Ok, i have made the offset in the bottom and the profile at the top, and made some patch lofts.

The problem now comes at the last text (error: loft would intersect itself)

But the actual modeled text is now exactly like i want it, just don't know if this is the best way to do it, it's quite a tedious work making lofts and trimming surfaces

Thanks

Tom

Hi @Tommagnusson1986,

I have tried myself to create it in different ways, but unfortunately I couldn't find an easy one!
