problem designing connecting part

i designed this part no problem but now i need to design the part that sits on top of this one and i cant figure how to get it to contour to this part. please advise!

We need more information, I can't tell what is going on top of the model you did there.

Photo or description, how it goes on top?

Yeah, its a bit hard to give you ideas without knowing how your part is going to be attached.  Here are a few way to capture the contour of the base though:

Another technique you can use is the Combine tool - use your existing component to subtract from a new component in a way that will guarantee a fit:

ok so that helped out a lot i am almost done with the part but can not get the final 2 inch by 1/2 inch deep hole in the middle of the design to appear see attached photosScreenshot (10).pngScreenshot (9).png

 

please advise

Just for a test change the direction of the hole hit flip direction if it does not fail the hole refrences is under the top of the model

 

Change to extrude and use 2 sided, it does look like it's under the top pull up a little bit and if the hole is there that's it.
