Problem creating a fillet

Here is an alternate approach to that chair. This is not a complete solution, but it might give you ideas on an alternate way to approach this. I'm not sure this is correct to describe your exact design, but the correct approach (I believe) will be something very similar to this. If you go with this method, I'd like to see where you take it.

That does look close to what I need. The thing that I am not sure how to add though are the edges which bend at 90 degrees to form a lip.

Sketch the edge profile, and sweep it around the body edge.
