Printing assemblies with only selected bodies, components

everytime I choose to print an assembly and only select the parts I want to print and make a DWG of.

It loads the whole assembly...

Even when the box is unchecked (full assembly)

Am I doing something wrong?

To clarify, you are trying to create a drawing from an assembly and even when you uncheck the full assembly option, the full assembly is still seen in the drawing. Is that correct?

I can't seem to replicate this on my end. A couple of questions

Are you using Fusion in Windowms or on a Mac?

Is it specific to a model?

Yes that is exactly what I am trying to do...

I am using Fusion actually on both Windows & Mac. Mostly on the windows side.

And it does this with any model I try.

Most of my assemblies are a mix of Solid Works and Fusion creations.

But It also does it on a model that was fully created in Fusion as well.

Here is typical workflow for creating drawing of selected components

1. Launch "New drawing from Design", in command dialog you will see Full Assembly is check marked by default, entire model is selected and prompt is displaying "Select to use full assembly, deselect to choose components."

2. Uncheck the Assembly option, and you will notice that nothing is selected from model and prompt is displaying "Select components to include in drawing". New option " Components" is available now in this dialog box, which indicates the number of selected components.

3. As you start selecting components from browser, you will notice number of components in command dialog is corresponding to selected component numbers, you can click on red cross (x) to clear the selection set  and restart selection process

4. When you click OK to create drawing, In the drawing you will see views of selected components only

Alterante way to create Drawing of selected components is to create selection set of components in Browser itself using Shift/Ctrl click and choose "Create New Drawing" from Right Click Menu.

If this doesn't solve your problem, please send us the model to investigate the problem.

Thanks,

Amarjeet

here is 2 screen shots of when I turn off a particular part, to make a drawing with out it, you can see it selects everything and then a more transparent re indroduced image of what I had shut off. then when I go to the drawing it actually still does print it like in the image #2 I show.

The images show out of order than I had planned. but here they are.

Hi JonBoy5Axis,

Thanks for posting the screenshots.

As I have mentioned in my previous reply, You need to select actual components from which you want to create drawing. From your posted screenshots, looks like you are trying to create drawing by selecting assembly in browser and expecting hidden component in browser will not participate in drawing.

Drawing creation is not restricted by visibility of components in browser, that means even a component is in hidden state (turned off), you can create drawing of it without changing it’s visibility state. Here are the screenshots for your reference,

Note: If selected component is in hidden state (turned off) in browser, after launching New Drawing from Design, ghost/transparent preview will be displayed for it.

If you want to create drawing of full assembly excluding one or few components,  you must have to select all the components excluding those components which you don’t want to include in drawing. Here are the steps,

1. Launch New Drawing from Design and uncheck assembly check box. You can see "Components: no selection"  in dialog box

Screen Shot 2014-11-27 at 2.18.00 pm.png

2. In browser, click on first component, hold SHIFT key and click on last component. All the components are selected now, and you can see number of selected components in dialog box

Screen Shot 2014-11-27 at 2.21.06 pm.png

3. Hold Command Key [Mac] or Ctrl key [Windows] and click on components, which you don’t  want to participate in drawing. You should see reduced number of components in dialog box

Screen Shot 2014-11-27 at 2.21.21 pm.png

4. When you click OK  button in dialog box, you will see excluded components are not visible in drawing views.

I hope this will resolve the issue and you will be able to create desired drawings.

Thanks,
Amarjeet
