Print 2D to Scale on Multiple Pages

So I've searched far and wide for an answer to this. Is there a way to print a 2d drawing/view of a model, to scale, on multiple (8.5 x 11) pages.

A little preface, I've created a boring template for a component, but it's almost 48" long. We don't have a large format printer. Any ideas on how to do this (with Fusion or external software)?

Thanks in advance!

Hi Max,

It sounds like the goal here is to have a printed template vs. something you would export and use in a CNC machine?  You can create a drawing that mimics what you're trying to do (long piece across multiple sheets).by placing individual full size Base Views showing a different portion of the long component on each sheet, for example:

LP2.png

In this case I have added some sketch geometry in the model (and toggled the visibility on in the drawing) so I can match this up with the next sheet.  I've also deleted the border and title block. You'd have to do this manually (new view per sheet) we can't do this automatically.  Not sure if that is exactly what you're looking for, but it's the closest I can think of to accomplish what you're describing.

Thanks,

Chris

Hi Chris,

That is exactly what I'm trying to do. I hadn't thought of using construction lines to position it.

I'm just surprised that this isn't as straightforward as I thought it would be. In Microsoft Word, if you have a large font, it will print out a sort of mosaic to create a larger poster.

Thanks for the help!

Hi, I was just facet with the same problem - I Solved it by defining the sheet in Fusion to be large enough to hold my drawing. I then exported it as a PDF and used Acrobat Reader to print it to multiple sheets.
