Precisely locating holes and adding center marks

I'm brand new to Fusion 360 and am trying to design a circular mounting plate with a center hole and multiple screw holes located a specified distance from the center in a radial pattern. I've managed to create the plate and center hole. To help locate the screw holes a specified distance from the center in a radial pattern, I drew lines in the sketch on the radial locations and circles at the specified distances (I suspect this is where I may be going wrong). I locate the holes by dragging their centers to the correct intersections. When I get to the drawing and try to create the center marks, I can select the first three of four holes but the fourth won't select. That leads me to believe that I don't have that fourth hole properly located. Is my problem in exact positioning of the holes or in my use of the center mark tool? What am I missing?

Make it a habit when you post a question on the Forum about a model, you should include the model.  It will get you quicker answers and much more relevant answers to your question.  I created a six hole pattern and did two types of center line layout in the drawing.  Which one do you need?  I can do a screencast of the one you choose or give me your file to complete.

To include a model with my posts would I download the file and include a copy as an attachment? I saw the button for pasting a "screencast" url but had no idea what that was (the question mark button doesn't work in my Safari browser).

The first pattern is about what I'm trying to accomplish. I haven't found any way to specify that a hole should be located a specified radial and distance from a point (center, in my case). But, I might also be mis-applying the center mark tool.

In Fusion 360, with your file open, select File -> Export to a local folder of your choice.  You then attach the file using the Attachments section below the Past a Screencast URL.

This model, as it stands in this version, has only four of the eight holes it will have. I still need to add four more holes on the 45°, 135°, 225° & 315° radials farther from the center.

If you want to use a Center Mark Pattern in your drawing, you must have a pattern of the holes in your model.  Take a look at the screencast.

I hope you realize how important attaching your model is to the solution of your question so make sure you do it from the start in the future.

I can't select any type of pattern from the Sketch menu in the Model workspace. I see that your in the Design workspace but I can't find that.

Also, my second set of holes has to start on a 45° radial. For that matter, I can't be sure that my first hole (used to create the pattern) is actually located on the 360° radial. How do I locate a hole that way?

Okay, I was able to do a pattern by going to the sheet metal workspace and was able to create the pattern as you did. I'm still curious about locating holes by radial and distance from center.

When you sketch the first hole, use dimensions to precisely locate it.  You can use angles or XY coordinates.  You can create the circular pattern in the sketch, but it's preferable to pattern model features.

It would pay to go through the learning tutorials located at the top of this site.

I've been through many of the tutorials but not all. I've seen how to locate a hole with respect to nearby edges or the center of a face but not by XY coordinates or angles.

Hi,

.. create point with dimension in your sketch and take it for the first hole in modeling mode.

Success!! With the help of the three of you, I managed to get the holes where I wanted and create a drawing with the center marks as desired.
