Does anyone know how to restore the text background to make it readable? I have to highlight the text to be able to read it. Happens on Chrome and Firefox browsers. Maybe a setting I need to set? Looks like a Cascading Style Sheet problem, to me. Thanks!

Thanks for posting! It looks like you have the "Format for displaying posts" set to "List by Topics." When I switched to this site preference, I got the same view as your screenshot.
To resolve this, click on the link to "My Profile" in the upper right hand corner to the Forum page. Then, click "Site Preferences" in the upper right hand corner of your forum profile page.
From here, select the tab for "Display & Privacy" and then the sub-tab for "Display." You can then change the "Format for displaying posts" to "Linear Format." This page is shown in the screenshot below:
