Hey! I am a few hours in to learning F360. Just cant figure out how to put a hole from point to point?  Any help much appreciated. As in the screenshot above I thought I would be able to just select the two points and make a hole but I can only get the hole to go straight through.

Because it can’t be done, without further preparation.

consider joining the two points with a sketched article,

then you can use Pipe, Sweep or Loft to get it done.

Might help.....

Hole command is as you have found out already, has a straight path, square to the starting face.  You are after one continuous hole that does not line up on the other side.

Means you have to use something other than the Hole or Extrude Command.

You haven’t said, it has to be a straight hole between the two points, so I gave you 3 options that can do it, Design Dependant.

Hi,

on the outgoing side you must always have an extension of the centre axis so that the hole penetrates the body completely.

Are you saying the Hole command will do it as presented?

edit: oops, I meant to reply to the OP, not @davebYYPCU

He's saying the hole command is the wrong tool for the job.  the hole operation is analogous to drilling and tapping operations in the real world.  In a manufacturing setting you wouldn't drill a hole at and angle to the face your drilling through.  that would be the wrong tool for that job.  you do it a different way.

in this case you can draw a line connecting the 2 points, put a" plane along path" on that line, draw a sketch of a circle, and then extrude.

Thanks laughingcreek. When I try to draw a line between the two points it creates a sketch and I can only see the point on that sketch?

File>Export and then Attach your *.f3d file here.

you may need to do a "include 3d geometry" projection to get the point into the sketch so you can select it as an endpoint for a line.

That sort of preparation, seen in Alex,s screencast.

Hole Tool is limited.

Thanks Alex,

I was able to do what i wanted. Seems like a long way around. I think a point to point hole function would be nice.

I had to use a construction line between the 2 points to draw the line. Then as you said I created a plane along path and then an offset path from that so that the hole cut through the body!

Put the plane on Path inside the body,

Extrude both ways will save a step or 2.

(My 1st three options presume the path is not straight.)
