Point in the center of a square

How do I create a point in the center of a rectangle so it will stay in the center even if I change the dimensions of the rectangle? I tried creating axes thru the corners of the rectangle and placing the point at the intersection, but it appears that I can't snap a point to an axis.

Is the rectangle a sketch, if it is draw a line from one corner diagonally to the opposite corner then constrain a point to the mid point of the diagonal line.

Yes, it's a sketch. I had also considered just drawing a diagonal line, but that breaks the extrusion that I had already created. The rectangle (actually a square) is extruded to create a cap on the end of a platform leg. Then I want a hole at the center of the cap to insert a leveling mount. Since there are multiple legs with identical holes in them, I wanted to create all of the holes with one operation, thus requiring a sketch point for each hole.

What is need is for that diagonal line to be a construction line since it serves no other purpose then to place the center point.

What I'm trying to do could also be accomplished by letting me constrain the point to be perpendicular to the middle point of a line or having the hole operation allow me to add holes on multiple faces instead of just a single face.

You can turn the line into a construction line just select it and the top icon on the sketch palette will toggle Construction Normal

Thanks. I see I can also get to Normal/Construction by selecting the line then right-clicking.
