Please help with "formula" for pipe sizing with thread

Fusion 360 2.0.10148; Personal plan

(This is my very first attempt at something like this.)

I need to print a reducing socket with thread on the inside for my vacuum cleaner I need to hook onto my planer.

Vacuum pipe OD: 48mm x 5mm

I designed a socket with an ID of 48mm with an:

ISO Metric profile

Size: 48.0 mm

Designation: M48 x 5

Class: 6H

Direction: Left Hand

The pipe does not fit into the socket ... not even close.

So I measured the ID of the socket and it measures 42.7 mm. My guess now it that the thread is added on the inside of the socket and not cut into the wall of the socket. I made it with an OD of 53 mm which I thought was enough for the threat to be cut into the wall.

Please advise me on the "formula" to calculate ID of a socket into which a vacuum hose with in OD of 48 mm should fit.

Thanks so long.

Hi,

Try MODIFY > "Replace Face" of the thread (e.g. 0.2 -0.4 mm )

I need to create a socket (like a nut) into which a pipe with 48mm OD must fit. If I understand correctly you sent me help with the design of the bolt. My apologies if I don't understand correctly.

Sorry, don't understand without wording. I cannot manage to replicate your design or have 4 faces selected.

Thanks for trying to help me.

Thank you very much. I am sure that I will manage after this as well as the reply below yours.

I just didn't think it can be so difficult. I thought M48 mm x 5 mm should have worked first time. 🙈

Danke schön.

Thank you so much. This helps a lot. I missed two faces and can now see why.

Much appreciated.

Thank you very much again. I managed to select al 4 faces. I moved is back by -1.0mm for a start.

Is there a way to get the exact measurement of the MALE diameter? I just want to measure it before I print.

Thank you SO MUCH again for your help & patience in helping me.

take a caliper and messure it. -1.0mm ist to much - be careful. when the diameter 48.2mm by the thread you can open the nuts -0.3mm ist realy enough. greetings  mango

It worked perfectly. The -1.0mm was good enough.

Thank you once again to all of you.👏

example using a bolt, but the same procedure is used for an internal thread.

the hole / and the thread must be enlarged because the fillet printer reduces the size of the holes.
