Placing a dimension not at a point

I have a scenario where I need to grab a dimension but there is no point to use. I cannot figure out a way to force the dimension to a spot along an edge. I have attached the drawing in PDF.

The dimension in question is the "72" It is snapped to the corner, but I need it to dimension to the overall height at that spot. (in other words, it needs to say 72 1/8). I can override the dimension and type in the value, but the other issue is I want the dimension shown as a fraction like it's "70 1/8" counterpart.  ideas?

You can do this by possibly adding a sketch point in the model so you can use it in the drawing.  Please attach our MODEL so one of the forum users can create a drawing and show the process.  If you do not know how to attach your Fusion 360 model follow these easy steps. Open the model in Fusion 360, select the File menu, then Export and save to your hard drive. Then use the Attachments section of a forum post to attach it.

Thank You!

I haven't used any sketches in my drawings before, so the idea didn't occur to me.  It worked as I had hoped.  It is too bad a similar function isn't built into the drawings mode.

Yes, As I stated I was able to create a sketch point as suggested, and then dimension off it in the drawing. I just had to make that specific sketch visible in the drawing so I was sure to use an otherwise empty sketch so there were no extra sketch details that were visible.  Once the sketch was visible, I was able to snap onto it with the dimension tool and use it.

Hi,

The drawing is derived from the design.
So you dimension the geometry that was created in design mode. Therefore, an "auxiliary element" (e.g. point, line...) must also have a reference to the object.

That makes sense. Perhaps the need to reference a "floating point" is not a common situation.

Sorry for late Reply..

You could also have used the Baseline Dimension option... See this Screencast Video..
