Physical Material is not showing correctly

I'm new to Fusion 360 (and CAD/3D modeling) and just started out learning Fusion 360 following one of the YouTube videos.

I'm stuck at a stupid issue: the Physical Material is set to "Birch", but the model is rendered in an brown-greyish colour.

Looking at the Physical Material library, there are a lot of materials with a "grey" preview and a few with actual colour (in the screenshot Ash and Birch are grey, while Cherry is coloured). Selecting a coloured material makes the component render with this material.

Is this because I'm using the Startup License? Or is the Physical Material library corrupted somehow?

What's the "Appearance" for that body? Physical Materials are for describing the physical characteristics of the object based on a material. Bodies also have an Appearance, which determines how it looks on screen. Normally when you select a Physical Material, there is a default Appearance that goes with it. But try using the Appearance command and explicitly selecting one.

Thank you for taking the time to reply. However, this doesn't seem to be the cause of the problem.

If I select e.g. "Pine" as Physical Material, the model is rendered correctly. So it looks like there is a problem with the material database where it seems to be missing information to display the affected materials.

Or is this a limitation for the Startup License?

It shouldn't be. I wonder if reinstalling fusion 360 would also reinstall the materials library. Might be the easiest thing to try.

Hmmm, I just looked and I do not see an Birch in the Fusion Appearance Library.

I think you will have to create your own.

I have not figured out how to get access to the Autodesk Appearance Library from within Fusion.
