Hello

I've juste started working on fusion 360 and I am looking for a laptop for 800$ more or less  onwhich tout work.

CPU: is an i7 neccessary or are i5 enough?

GPU : is it necessary tout have a separate GPU, or are integrated GPU enough? If separate Gpu are necessary, is a NVIDIA mx150 enough?

Thanks tout for tout answers

Hi @Anonymous ,

I'm happy to tell you, that there is a new platform for that called TESREG.

TESREG is a Professional Software Hardware Benchmark, that also includes Fusion 360.  Over there you will be able to find all kinds of hardware configurations (Desktops/Laptops) with tests results.

The platform will save you a lot of Time, Money and frustration, and you will quickly find what you need.

The URL is: https://tesreg.com create an account (don't worry it's 100% free!) and watch the instruction videos.

If you need any help, you can contact me in the support forum.

Cheers / Ben

Account creation for viewing benchmarks... that's a fail.

@lichtzeichenanlage,
The TESREG platform is more than just viewing numbers, which is why you need to create an account.
If you watch the intro video, you will understand why!

At the point I've created my comment I've watched the video on your start page. And I do get the point that if people want to upload data they have to create an account. And I like the idea of collecting data for professional software (even it some test are already available) But IMHO a big part of your audience is just interesting in evaluating performance data (and that's exactly what you recommend it for here and in some other threads) and I don't see the point why an account is needed.

Right now I've watched the Fusion 360 video, the filter video and the compare video. And I have to say I've some concerns about the procedure. Here are some:

  • You're Fusion 360 test do completely exclude single core performance. In case of e.g. Fusion 360 this is a bummer. You're doing rendering tests and for those more cores are resulting in a better performance. In lot of daily tasks Fusion 360 isn't scaling very well and this result isn't relevant. In this case a higher single core performance is important.
  • I haven't seen that you're collecting data about system brands and models. This is especially important for notebooks, because the same CPU / GPU model can perform differently because of e.g. thermal throttling.
  • Because of the complete manual nature of the tests, the complete system is built on trust. I have my doubts this will work at the long run.
  • I understand why people should disable anti virus software but in lot of professional environments you simply can't do this.
