Pattern Options - Spacing or Extents

It seems to me that the default option for the pattern command should be spacing instead of extents. I know I use spacing far more often compared to extents. 

I would be interested to hear from other users though. Do you use Spacing or Extents more frequently?

I personally agree with you as I like to have the math planned out for my spacing before I attempt a pattern!
