Pattern on path not working for me. Please help

Hi. I'm trying to create a hole pattern along a sketch path. I've drawn a line and converted it into a construction line. Then I've made a hole. Now I'm trying to create the pattern along the line, but it's not working and I'm not sure why. Not getting any error messages, just no holes. Attached a screencast here. Any help is appreciated!

Can you make the same screencast with all the linked designs hidden, wondering if a linked body is interfering with the pattern.

Also have you tried the other options like Optimize, Identical or even selecting the face for the pattern?

OK, just made a test file and see the same. When I select the whole path I get no holes and when I select part of the path the holes are not spaced correctly. @jeff_strater  is this a known bug? Test file attached.

Mark

Edit, Setting the distance type to spacing works.

Thanks for your reply. I did try the other compute options but doesn't seem to make a difference. I tried setting the distance to spacing as well but all that seems to do is add a second hole placed arbitrarily along the path, definitely not 14 holes, so I don't really understand what's happening.

As for the linked bodies, the body the sketch is drawn onto is not a linked component but a body in the main design.

I found some solution, maybe it will work for you. Pattern along path is not working with holes but works with bodies. Make bodies from holes, then pattern it, then combine. Attached file with workflow.holes along path.png

@HughesTooling - thanks for letting me know.  Yes, there are known bugs with pattern on path that are being worked on.  I'll add this to that list to make sure it is covered.  One small thing - face pattern seems to work better that feature pattern on your sample file (although it fails on the first hole, probably because the faces are not whole in the seed instance)

Hi,

it is also curious that the option "feature" makes no problems if the path exists as a full line instead of the construction line.

With the "faces" option, you can select both.

I don't see that behavior, @g-andresen  - it appears to work (actually not work) the same whether the line is construction or normal.  Here I have reversed the construction flag on the two paths:

and the results are the same.  I would have been shocked if had been any different - "construction" is just an attribute of a curve internally, and does not affect the geometry at all.
