Parting lines?

Is there a simple way to generate a parting line?  I want to see if I'm missing something before posting this as an idea station request.

For molds?

Could you use a workplane or surface with the split body command?

What I'm looking for is a way to find the "natural" parting line on a complex, organically shaped body, referenced to a particular pull direction or plane.  Other CAD packages I've used have a "find parting line" command.  I'm trying to figure out how to find this curve in Fusion.

This is in progress as we speak. Should be available for our September update.
In the mean time you can approximate/visualize the natural parting line by using the draft analysis command, set a pull direction and then set all the values to -.01 deg and .01 deg

OK, draft analysis is what I have used to approximate, but it doesn't generate a curve I can pick up and use for construction, splitting, project to a sketch, etc.  Good to know this is coming.

If you need something right away, you could send me an F3D and I'll split the faces for you along the natural parting line.

Thanks- What I'm doing is good enough for now, and it sounds as if the tool will be there when I need more precision.  I just wondered if I was missing something.
