Part disappears when I enter simulation mode

I am a new user to Fusion 360 and the Autodesk family. I can load a new design file into Fusion 360 without any problems. Unfortunately when I would like to do a simulation, I the model will disappear. The interesting part is that when I do this with a part I have modeled up in the program itself (Fusion 360) it works just fine. So I am wondering am I doing something incorrectly or is there a problem with using the STL file?

Thanks

Hello @Anonymous

I just tried to insert an STL file for simulation. The component dissappeared . You cannot use STL file in Simulation .

An stl is a mesh body, which can't be used in the simulation environment, there for you need to convert it into a BRep body ( which is the format of the bodies made in F360 ), and to do that you need to do this :

If your timeline is active ( Capture Design History is on ), then you need to create a base feature from the create drop down menu, and once you enter the base feature workspace, you can right-click the mesh body and select "Mesh to BRep". That will change it to a solid F360 body.

If your time line isn't active, same thing above but without the need to enter the base feature workspace

But be careful, there is a limited number of faces of a mesh that F360 can handle, if the mesh was too fine, it might not be converted
