Parameter update hazardous

Anonymous
Not applicable

Hello

I wrote a message few weeks ago about parameter that not update when they are used on operation. Since 13 april update it works fine on operation but do not update the value on sketch.

First picture show the sketch value "49 1/2" which is the result of parameter operation but second picture show the mesure done after leaving sketch and same distance is "45".

An other thing strange, if i update the value by increasing it twice, it works but if for the second update the value decrease, it doesn't works.

Thanks for an answer.

We believe that this bug is now fixed (as of the April 13 update).  A Compute All (under the Modify) menu, should fix your existing parameters and equations.  Can you try that and see if it fixes the problem?

Thanks,

Jeff

Sorry but i have try it and it did not change the distance.

But i can tell you that part of the bug is solved because before the update, result of my equation was not updated and now they are.

Problem now is that the sketch do not update event if, when you open the sketch, the value of the dimension looks good but the distance is not.

I don't know if it can help you to find an answer but i discover that if i update my result twice in a certain way it work. for example:

Actual result is 65in and i want to change it for 70, i can not do it one shoot, first i need to change it for a value between actual value and target value, 68 for ex (but it will not update the sketch), second i change it again for the target value 70 and everything works.

I hope i was clear.

regards

can you share your design here?  We need the model to see what is going on.

Thank you,

Jeff

Hi Jeff,

Here is my model.

If you go to change the parameter "PrL_H_Verre" it need to change door hight but it also, via equation, change the distance between hinges and cutout distance between hinges on the left panel "SP_H_inter_penture" parameter.

But if you change "PrL_H_Verre" distance, one time of two, 3d representation of cutout doesn't move but the result of the equation "SP_H_inter_penture" is good and the dimension shown in the sketch "lateral cutout" is good. So take the mesure with inspect and you will see the difference.

Really strange.

Thanks

Hi @Anonymous

I do a lot of paramterized designs and I tried to take a look - but everytime I open the parameters menu on your file it crashes my fusion...?

Not sure what is going on there. I had an issue like this once, and it was a localization issue (my computer doesn't like fun letters in other languages sometimes).

Just to note - if you created this while Fusion was having its "parameter" problems, you may need to start again. I had a file I created during that time, and even after the update, it wasn't working right - I had to start over. Any files before the problems (even if I used it during the problems) and all files I created after are working fine.

Good luck!

I see the same thing.  We will investigate this crash.  Thank you for sharing the model.

@Anonymous and @jeff_strater

I'm glad to say that while this file does crash in production, it does not in current development builds.

We have an update coming in a week or so that should these parametric issues. Apparently this crash is solved in that build. Sorry for the trouble and thanks for your patience. If the problem continues after next week's update, please let us know.

Thanks,

Hi Phi,

i am confident that the problem of crash will be resolve with the next update but.... my original request for support was not on crash. (hopefully it resolve a collaboration problem).

Personnally i can change parameters on my macbook and also on my Windows conputer withoutany crash. I don't have this problem at home and i don't know why i don't have it.

Now, if the crash will be solved, can you tell me if the problem linked to to the parameter change will be solved also with the update? Can you test it with the future version.

i would like to know if i need to start over my model or if i just have to wait the update to resolve all my issues.

I have not talk about it yet but i have also an "implicitjointorigin" which is using a cache reference error message if i try to delete a specific geometry on this model. i do not understand this one but i try to live with.

Is there a possibility to talk together on those subject? i am available this friday 22 morning.

I really appreciate the support you gave me and understand the developpement product stepss.

Regards

Hi Jef,

I simplfied the model that is quite bigger and larger than this one but my original request for support was not on crash. (hopefully it resolve a collaboration problem).

it is a bug only some are having there is 2 different version's of the bug but most are haveing success if you input the parameter twice in the paramater box in the model, also it make life easyer if you make up user paramaters not just change dementions in the sketch paramaters, user paramaters seem to be fine they just dont up date in the modle all the time inputting twice seems to work

thanks,

This is why i say i can live with it. i realised that by changing the parameter twice it works, but......

I would prefer to have a straight solution that works with a patched one.

Thanks for your answer.

These are the issues we are trying to fix with the next update. Your models should be fine, they will operate correctly after this fix. If there is any continued problem please let us know.

Just closing the loop here for all the Fusion users. There was another closely related thread where the solution is discussed. Please refer to it if you have questions.
