Organize sketches

Sometime i have many sketches and bodies whithin a design (or component) and i try to organize them (change the order).

I can drag and drop the sketch between two components but i can't change the order in the browser. With bodies it's a working function.

Does anyone know the correct way? Is it an available function?

i use the newest 2.0.1934 Fusion (mac)

Hi @adam.molnar.1,

No, unfortunately you cannot reorder sketches in the browser today.  Yes, bodies are supported, but not sketches.  There's no reason it can't be done, it just has never risen to the top of the priority list.  This idea from the Idea Station is close:  browser-sorting-amp-interactivity.  Put in a vote for it.

The best you can do with sketches is reorder them in the timeline, which will affect their order in the browser.  Of course, that is often not possible because of dependencies.

Please consider bumping Browser organization/Layer recognition higher up on the list of things to work on. It really does make it difficult to navigate complex scenes and stay organized while continuing to evolve your design. The more stuff there is the harder it is to keep track of as is and that can add hours into production.

I saw in the recommended thread above that "groups" were added to Bodies to help organize things and while it's considered "implemented," in the thread it's not entirely.

We really do need a drag and drop feature similar to what pretty much every other software with layers has for organization (Photoshop is a great example), see attached for example.

Another reason to look into this feature is if you edit older sketches they don't show new sketches in the browser because the new one wasn't created yet. (see example files 1,2,3,4). The only way to get around this is to delete work history, but depending on your workflow this could be a HUGE issue.

yes please, make this happen.  It would be very handy and seems like a trivial thing to implement with much less frustration on the user end when discovering the feature appears to be working but doesn't.  Even a popup that says "this feature can't happen yet" when attempting would be better than nothing happening at all.  Thanks!

Currently the only way I've found to reorder sketches is to change their order in the timeline. To apply the new order to the explorer tree you have to edit one of the sketches then click save (you don't have to make any real changes). Then they should show in the order they are in the timeline. Of course sometimes this isn't possible since a sketch might depend on a previous sketch which limits how far back you can put it in the timeline. Hopefully the Fusion team will add the ability to order sketches from the explorer tree, and add a New Group function to the sketches folder so you can have sub folders of sketches like you can with bodies. I'm not really sure why they didn't just apply that same functionality to the sketches folder already since it works great in the bodies folder 🤔
