Open\Insert files direct from the web.

Fusion has a demo script OpenFileFromWeb that does exactly what it says, it will also open files from your hard drive. I found the html file that comes with the script does all the magic of opening and inserting. I've made a tips thread to demonstrate a cutdown version of the html file.

You can bookmark the link below to go straight to the post with the ability to open\inset files.

If you help out on the forum you'll find the html file very useful as you can just copy and paste links to files straight in and no need to manually download.

@brianrepp This should really have been in the main menu.

The script shows that the functionality is there.

I actually like the idea to even be able to fetch online files - thats pretty amazing and cutting edge.

Not having this as a menu at all is a pretty dull edge 😉

I am curious why this was not implemented as a insert CAD file into current design in the file menu anyway.

Dashboad is just to slow for many files.

Here's a copy of the html file for anyone who'd rather run it from their hard drive so it's always available. Extract the html file and save to your hard drive then a double click should open it in your browser.
